Sticky Note: March 2025
Tomorrow marks the last week of my second trimester. I celebrated by chugging 50 grams of glucose — as is tradition.
I can only assume the final months of this pregnancy will speed by at an even faster clip than they already have been, in direct contrast to the pace at which I am personally moving these days. (I always thought “waddling” was an exaggerated Hollywood cliché until I experienced its inevitability firsthand). The mental math is different this time around, though. I’m not so much counting down the days until my due date as I am counting down the days I have left before my attention is split in two directions.
At various points throughout the day, my son has been asking to “take a little rest” on my shoulder. Sometimes he will turn to me out of the blue and say, “happy to see you.” Even his tantrums and mood swings retain a degree of preciousness to me amidst the hormonal haze of a fast-approaching sibling, ditto for the time it requires to follow him all the way down an emotional rabbit hole and bring us both back up for air. He loves when I tell him to take a deep breath in, then out. To calm his body down. Whenever he is perched on top of the mound of my stomach, his sister between us, I think to myself, here we all are.
Below the paywall in this month’s Note, you’ll find:
My favorite non-maternity striped long-sleeved T-shirt that still covers my entire bump, thus avoiding the Winnie the Pooh trap (and looks great when I’m not pregnant, too).
An Etsy shop that has become my new go-to for beautiful, reasonably-priced, handmade baby gifts.
A small, very easy, and dare I say transformative (!) home decor upgrade.
Some thoughts on how to successfully style leopard print for The Current Moment (with a mini-curation of fun secondhand links under $100).
I hope everyone has the chance to get outside and huff a little bit of pollen this week 😌.
