Look at St. Agni for your friend with the wedding! They use natural materials, and can read more structured even with their summer assortment.

thank you for the tip!!

Tips for finding secondhand white nightgowns that aren’t too see through to wear during the day?

Harling Ross Anton's avatar

Search for "vintage linen nightgown" on etsy! Those are usually more opaque

Harling Ross Anton's avatar

love both but i think slight preference for the etsy one!

Really into the white cotton long skirt with the leopard headscarf! So good.

How much do I need Freda Salvador fisherman sandals?! I’m on the hunt for comfortable summer shoes that aren’t sneakers. These are a little spendy, buuut if they’re really that comfortable 😮

Unfortunately can confirm they’re that good.. three pairs and counting and basically the only summer shoe I wear now.

any tips for little boys clothes secondhand? struggle to find the gems!

Harling Ross Anton's avatar

i recommend searching for specific details or characteristics you gravitate toward -- like "mandarin collar" or "cotton poplin pants" or "striped overalls." or if shopping on poshmark for more contemporary things - the actual product names of clothing you like i.e. "oso & me bowie pants." and then after you click into things that you like, always look at the algorithm's suggestions for "similar listings" or "things you might also like"

thank you!!! is poshmark your favorite source? thredup/ebay a waste of my time?

Regarding the search for a dress for a wedding…and the “belly out” comment. That is one thing I don’t understand…maybe it is mainly on social media, but what is the thing with pregnant women having to dress with the belly out constantly? We know you are pregnant…do these same women dress in midriff tops all the time when not expecting? And no…I think cocktail attire calls for a covered belly…don’t you?

Harling Ross Anton's avatar

I think adults are generally pretty good at deciding what feels right on their own bodies and what's appropriate for a specific occasion — and that doesn't change just because someone is pregnant. Personally, I'll never not love seeing a bump out in the world. It's just a happy thing!

Women’s bodies are already so heavily policed, especially while pregnant, so no I don’t care if someone has their belly out, pregnant or not. Do what you want. I would’ve been totally fine with a pregnant belly out at my cocktail-attire wedding. If you’re pregnant and making the effort to attend a wedding, I give you carte blanche to wear whatever you want

Of course…each woman should do what she wants! I am not telling anyone what they should do…I am just wondering why I see it SO much! I am not being prudish…and you have to admit that this is a relatively new phenomenon. I don’t usually see women walking around with exposed stomachs unless they are at a pool or the beach. As far as making an effort to attend a wedding…would being pregnant make someone stay home from an event due to pregnancy? If they were feeling ill, of course, but that is not usually the case, thank goodness!

For me, pregnancy was a time I felt more confident about my stomach than I have probably ever - besides being a child, lol. I know for a lot of people it can be a time where body image is healed a bit, so having the bump out can feel really empowering!

It's pretty hard to dress a very pregnant belly if you don't like tight/stretchy things or don't want to look like a tent, so this trend is giving women more options and freedom to dress in a way that makes them feel like themselves.

Weddings are long events and if you're doing it sober, with a sore back or feet, and generally feeling much more tired than usual, I reckon they can be a slog!

Sharon M's avatar

As I said, I was just wondering why…not judging or telling anyone how to dress! But…I did give birth to two children, and I was able to dress a very pregnant belly without wearing very tight clothes or looking like a tent, so it can be done. If I remember correctly, I looked pretty cute pregnant!
