Might I recommend the Ilia Limitless Mascara as a “similar but slightly better” alternative to Glossier. The majority of my makeup is now Ilia and am super satisfied.

Hope you love it! My one caveat is that it smells weird but it’s not terrible, just a distinct smell

No it’s not tubing, but I agree! Washes easily in my experience. 🩷

Not sure if you’ll see this, but the Yoto is a better alternative to the Tonie, imo. Way more portable and long lasting. I got one for my kiddo when she was 4, she’s still using it as a 6 year old.

have heard great things about both but that Tonie is easier for younger kids to operate, so that's why I was leaning in that direction! my son is 15 months

We opted for the Yoto for my daughter when she was one and she picked up how to use it quickly. I didn’t love the idea of having all the figurines. But I know lots of Tonie users that love it

FWIW our 1 year old loves her Yoto mini! I love the built in radio and that’s what we listen to the most.

P.s my son even plays with the figurines sometimes and I think they look lovely when put on a shelf :) for older kids they have options that look more like a cassette :)

I don’t have the Yoto, so can’t say if it’s better but for what it’s worth we have the Tonie and our sons loves it (also started around 15min months) and still going very strong now at 3.5. Also love that they are adding a wider range for older kids (7+) so I think we’ll get a lot of use also in the long term

My goddaughter also has the yoto! She’s 18 months and loves it.

Once nice feature is that you can make your own recordings. So her grandparents and aunts and uncles and cousins can send voicenotes to her mom and she’ll copy them onto a card.

Then my goddaughter can listen to her Grammy reading her favorite poem whenever she wants.

But I think either tonie or yoto, great screen free thing for kids!

I was just going to ask how you decided on a Tonie vs a Yoto! I have neither but I am leaning towards the Yoto because I heard it's easy for the figurines to get lost, and I love the feature of being able to record me reading a book to her. But... I haven't made a final decision yet. All I know is that she's obsessed with getting to our phones already and I need a better distraction for her 🙃

Oh hey! I’m just seeing this. When I got the Yoto, I wasn’t aware of the tonies. I think Yoto has a better infrastructure online/the ability to make your own cards, lots of longevity compared to the tonie. I also like how portable the Yoto is, my kid has a case that holds like 60 cards and the mini, perfect for travel.

I got my now 5 year old the Tonie box two years ago and it is still the most consistently used toy in the house. We absolutely love it.

youth to the people kale cleanser

tshirts from Madewell and re/done

macys cashmere wraps - basic and classic, usually appropriate for someone I’m gifting

Taper candles - I am flexible on brand

Cloth napkins - I love to have a stockpile

+1 for Blueland! Have been using their dishwasher and laundry tablets for years now. Really love how eco friendly they are though have noticed the prices creeping up over the years...

For dish soap, we just use diluted Dr. Bronner’s (dilution instructions are on the bottle)

Do you have recs for good hand soap? Do you use the Blueland? We’re stuck on the Mrs Meyers train but I hate buying the bottles. We do diluted Dr Bronner’s for kitchen hand soap. Looking for bathroom hand soap with good scents, maybe mix it up seasonally, either in bulk or low packaging. Thank you!!

i've never been so tempted by shopping than when shopping for baby. The choices seem even more infinite (i feel like it's easier to make clothes for babies? like i'm not a hat person yet think babies should wear a million different adorable ones), coupled with the fleetingness of each stage. i'm thankful of the foundation of ignoring anything that isn't a natural material, remind myself that i have plenty of cute hand-me-downs, and that babies look cutest rustling about in their birthday suit, anyways--no outfit can compete with that.
