I have to say, the whole sock thing has really blown my mind. I've always been very utilitarian with my socks (like white, under armor, anklet) but I bought a pair of grey alpaca/cashmere blend tall socks and I'm obsessed. They look great when my ankles peak out of my jeans. They're so much warmer. I feel fancier and more put together! Especially at friends houses with the no-shoes rule. Like socks are now part of the outfit. A new world has been opened to me!
Red Maple is the brand! If ever skiing in Ellicottville, NY they're stocked at The Purple Doorknob (they only sell socks, love them). They have some online at purpledoorknob.com if search Alpaca (it's the Alpaca Copper Crew)
So true ! I always was wearing whatever Hanes multipack ones my dad would give me (along with a block of Charmin) but once i discovered the beauty of treating socks like accessories, looking down at my pant sock shoe combo has been much more satisfying
Why have I never thought to layer one of my many red vintage tshirts under one of my many gray sweaters? 🤯 I love your long vintage coat in that last shot. That is such a beautiful color. Congratulations!
THIS!! I thought the same thing; such an easy way to make an impact. I've layered white shirts but now I'm thinking about the red (and plum) colored tees I have!!
Hi Harling, I'm also pregnant and a few weeks behind you. Really love your pregnancy fashion content and can't wait for more! Even before pregnancy, I've struggled with the art of layering and pairing jewelry. I'd love a deep-dive into how you choose, pair, and layer jewelry. It sounds simple but I always feel like it's off! Also, the bump is making me want to experiment with longer chains and larger pendants. Yours are so nice!
someone else was just asking for the same thing re: jewelry, so it's on my list! thanks so much for the feedback -- and big congrats on the pregnancy, I hope you're feeling really good.
My mind is doing that thing where it goes, “you can do that?! I didn’t know we could do that!” Like I’m realizing I had certain “getting dressed” rules that are complete and total baloney and I CAN in fact layer one knit over the other, for example. love these looks and inspired to look at my closet today!
These are wonderful. Your last pregnancy style log was so helpful while I was pregnant. Now that I’m post partum I’ve barely had a thought to how to make an outfit but this gives so much inspiration regardless of your life stage.
Mom question: is the Artipope baby carrier worth it? I’m trying to find it secondhand on Facebook but unsure if it’s even worth it.
i genuinely adore the Artipoppe. Granted, I haven't tried every carrier in the world, but I have tried three similar ones (including the Artipoppe), and it's hands-down my favorite of those because it was the easiest to put on by myself and most comfortable for me. So those are my two cents. But I know it's super expensive, so absolutely understand weighing the purchase. I think if you can find it for a great price secondhand you should go for it.
would definitely consider that! not sure if people would be thrown by some rogue beauty content given what I primarily write about here? but probably no one cares!!
I would also love curl content! I think plenty of us have textured hair and would be interested. You could certainly connect it to clothes styling too. I’ve wondered how (or whether) you take your hair into consideration when getting dressed, as it’s such a main element of your look!
I have a question about the Le Orsine slippers. I have a pair of Drogheria Crivellini slippers and I’m wondering if you or anyone can tell me how these compare in terms of fit and sole thickness. I bought mine a size up and I wear them without socks in summer, and the soles wore down quickly. I’d love a similar pair with maybe a thicker sole, and would love to wear with socks, in which case sizing up would seem sensible. Would love any intel, thanks!
the first trimester was absolutely brutal, I won't lie. but I have really, really bad first trimesters, so this might not be the case for everyone. It was also very hard for me mentally to not be physically capable of giving my toddler what he needed/wanted from me. i also have a very high-needs, energetic toddler so that's a contributing factor as well I'm sure 😂. Now that I'm past the vomiting stage, it's been relatively fine, but my support network (sometimes family, sometimes our part-time nanny depending on the day) continues to be incredibly helpful in terms of finding opportunities to recharge. i think going into the second pregnancy with an awareness of what my support options are was critical for me, and I've definitely been more open to accepting help vs. trying to do everything myself, often out of necessity because of how physically taxing it's been at times.
apologies in advance because this will be a niche recommendation, but — I pined after that cardigan for long enough that i finally just made one myself.
there are lots of knitters who have shared their notes on ravelry!
i ended up using two yarns held together - cashmere/merino from purl soho in the color “poppy” & knitting for olive silk mohair in “blood orange” which pretty effectively matched the nikki chasin sweater in habanero, but was all natural fibers, which was a priority for me.
(and the materials cost about half the sheba cardigan cost).
good luck in your quest! it’s such a good cardigan shape/color!
I was so happy to have been gifted that Nikki Chasin sweater for Christmas but -- it is already pilling SO much and it's only February. Do you find yours pills quite a bit too?

Love this answer. Thank you!!!
So many cute looks
Adorable outfits, pregnant or not!
hi harling! would you ever do a post on curl care? wondering what changed throughout pregnancy + postpartum – routine, products, curl pattern, etc.
would definitely consider that! not sure if people would be thrown by some rogue beauty content given what I primarily write about here? but probably no one cares!!

As a curly hair stylist and fellow head of noodles gal I loooove curl content
Another vote for curl content!

What is it like being pregnant with a toddler ? Fear of fatigue has me procrastinating

Has anyone found a cardigan similar to &Daughter or Nikki Chasin that's a bit more affordable?
apologies in advance because this will be a niche recommendation, but — I pined after that cardigan for long enough that i finally just made one myself.

Nice work! I am not a knitter and probably never will be ha. Let me know if I could pay you to make me one haha
