Those Franci Villa Vanilla plates... I'd told myself I wasn't going to buy any more plates, and as soon as I read this, yet there I was, straight onto Etsy and eBay....
I love this! I went to Puglia for my honeymoon and made my husband drive us like 1.5 hours to the town of Grottaglie, which is known as basically the capital of ceramics for Italy. There's actually a really cool history there of the Fasano family who have been making ceramics (specifically the splatter plate design you share above) for EIGHTEEN GENERATIONS. It's like the ceramics mafia I swear because they all have their own shops now and it's a bit dramatic (as us Italians are). You can read more about it here:https://www.vogue.com.au/vogue-living/arts/inside-a-ceramic-studio-in-southern-puglia/image-gallery/28c82158e3e725c4d5d581b3b9f8f1d8 but also there are lots of other articles. Worth a visit for us plate nerds! Lots of little old ladies making ceramics in the coolest oldest buildings.
I love seeing others style and personality through items that are often overlooked, it can really make a home unique. Those American Simplicity plates are divine.
Also, congratulations on implementing paid subscribers, what a milestone!
I had no idea plates could be so much fun. I immediately shared this newsletter with a friend who wants to give up his current job and start making ceramics. For quite some time now. I hope this treats will give him a boost. They are wonderful. Congrats for the paid subscriptions, Harling! You do a wonderful job! I’ve learned jewelry from you, now plates. 🙏🙏🙏 and a big hug! A huge one!
I love looking in unexpected places for design inspiration and who knew I should've been looking at plates all this time! Those two tomato plates would've been good to link to in the ketchup issue of my newsletter. Thanks for this inspiring roundup!
Also--do you have any advice for mixing disparate color palettes? Or displaying them separately? I'm trying to only buy plates I love and on the flip side, buy plates I love even if I'm not sure how they'll fit yet--trying to accept full eclecticism--but am nervous that they'll ultimately look like shit all together tbh. (I also have some plates I got as a gift that skew away from the colors and style I was leaning towards, but are still nice, and I want to use them lovingly you know?)

Wow thank you, so much goodness here. You may also like ceramiche de Simone for Etsy and eBay searches, and of course the Ginori 1735 series.
Now off to get those tomato plates…
