Oh, also, I’ve been eyeing “amalfi plates” or “amalfi dinnerware” or “amalfi plates made in Italy” - various combinations that get me brightly colored plates and bowls and mugs. I need something happy and bright to scare off the late year/election scaries!

I love collecting vintage uranium glass. It's typically beautiful green colored glass and it glows under black light! You're not supposed to use uranium glass for eating, for obvious reasons, but it's perfectly safe to have in your home.

I bought a blue vintage Bitossi style bowl for .99 at the thrift store last weekend. It looks great on my shelf!

Hate to be this person but make sure you test fiestaware (and all other vintage plates mugs etc) for lead! I know some colors are better than others, but it feels worth pointing out.

yes! hopefully goes without saying but that's something to be aware of when eating or drinking off of any vintage ceramics, thank you for mentioning.

vintage fiestaware is radioactive.

hi! lead content is definitely something to be aware of when purchasing any vintage ceramics that you plan to eat or drink out of, but a lot of secondhand fiestaware is considered perfectly safe. Look for the "lead free" marker on the bottom, or a dry foot on the rim which indicates that it was produced after 1986. You can also purchase brand-new Fiestaware since the company is still in production.

not all of it is radioactive but a lot of it made after 1930 ish and before 1970 ish was used wit a glaze that had uranium in it. and unfortunately that’s not marked.

yes. lead is one thing. radioactive is another.

Yes, you’re right! My understanding is that everything made after 1986 is free of uranium oxides as well as lead.
